10/28/12 Lake Geneva, cloudy, 30 degrees, winds NE at 15 mph.  Water temp 52 degrees.  Caught 18 smallmouth, there were about 5-6 legals.  The fish were smaller than yesterday.  All fish were caught on lindy rigs in 22-25 ft of water.  Fished the north shore because of the winds and cold temperatures.

10/27/12 Lake Geneva, sunny, 30 degrees, winds NE at 15 mph.  Water temp 52 degrees.  Caught 17 smallmouth, 15 were legal with the largest being 22 inches.  Was Lindy rigging extra large fat head minnows in 22-25 ft of water off the Holiday Camp.  Tried other places but the wind and cold made it difficult to fish some of the prime locations.

10/21/12 Lake Geneva, sunny, 60 degrees, winds S at 15 mph.  Water temp 52 degrees.  Caught 29 smallmouth, 8-10 were legal.  All the fish were caught lindy rigging extra large minnows.  We fished by the Yacht Club, Holiday Camp and by the Military academy.

10/20/12 Delavan Lake, partly cloudy, 45 degrees, winds light out of the west.  Water temp 53 degrees.  Caught 9 walleyes -2 were legal, 2 smallmouth bass, 3 northerns, and 2 largemouth bass, both were legal.  The walleyes were caught on lindy rigged fat head minnows off of main lake points in 20-22 ft of water.  The bass and northern pike were caught off the weed flats in 12-13 ft of water.  The bass and pike were caught on excalibur rattle baits.

10/18/12 Delavan Lake, cloudy, rainy, 42 degrees, winds W at 20-30 mph.  Water temp 53 degrees.  Caught 1 northern pike and had a few bass on.  With the cold and rain, the lake was almost un-fishable.  We fished about 2 1/2 hours.  The best bite this day was by a friend of mine, who was fishing 12 ft of water with medium diving crank baits in front of Lake Lawn.  Once the winds picked up, we couldn't fish that location.

10/13/12 Lake Geneva, cloudy, rainy, 55 degrees, winds W at 10-15 mph.  Water temp 55 degrees.  Caught 25 smallmouth.  The fish were caught on lindy rigged large fat head minnows.  The best location was by the Military Academy and by the Yacht Club.  This time of year, the fish are very schooled up so if you catch one there is a likelihood you will catch several more.

10/10/12 Lake Geneva, sunny, 60 degrees, W winds at 15-30 mph.  Water temp 56 degrees.  Caught 15 smallmouth bass - 7 were legal, and 20 perch.  The fish were located in 25-28 ft of water.  Fished large fat head minnows on lindy rigs on the east side of Conference Point and in front of Gage Marine.

9/30/12 Lake Geneva, Sunny and 43 degrees, Winds E at 8 mph.  Water temp 61 degrees.  Caught 2 largemouth bass and 25 smallmouth bass.  The biggest smallmouth was 20 inches. The big fish was caught on a lindy rigged yellow perch.  The best location was by the Holiday Camp and we fished by the Yacht Club as well.  The best depth was 22-25 ft of water.

9/29/12 Lake Geneva, sunny and 46 degrees, light winds out of the west.  Water temp 62 degrees.  Caught 4 largemouth bass - 2 were legal, 20 smallmouth bass - 4 were legal.  Almost all of the fish were caught on lindy rigs fished with fat head minnows.  We fished by the Military Academy and by Holiday Camp.

9/26/12 Delavan Lake, 45 degrees, W winds at 15 mph.  Water temp 63 degrees.  Caught 3 largemouth bass, 1 northern pike and 1 walleye.  Fishing was very tough.  The bass and walleye were caught on lindy rigged nightcrawlers.  The best depth was 20 ft of water.  The northern was caught on a lindy rigged sucker.

9/23/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, 40 degrees, winds were switching from west to north at 15 mph.  Water temp 63 degrees.  Caught 7 largemouth bass, the biggest was 18 inches and 1- 20" smallmouth.  With the cooler water, all the fish were caught on split shot rigged extra large fat head minnows.  I caught most of the fish by 3 flags and by the Yacht Club.  No fish were caught on medium suckers or nightcrawlers.

9/22/12 Lake Geneva, cloudy, 50 degrees, NW winds at 25 mph.  Water temp 65 degrees.  Caught 7 largemouth bass and 3 smallmouth plus a load of rock bass and bluegills.  Due to the inclement weather, the guide party cancelled, I went out for a couple hours anyway.  Most of the fish were caught in 13-20 ft of water.  The water temperature is such that the fish are still biting on nightcrawlers fished on a split shot rig.  The best location was Elgin Club or Belvidere Park.

9/20/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, 65 degrees, west winds at 15-20 mph.  Water temp 65 degrees.  Caught 8 largemouth bass, 2 were legal, and 15 bluegills.  Again, the wind was a big issue.  Most of the fish were caught 12-13 ft of water.  Nightcrawlers worked the best but lindy rigged medium suckers also produced.  The best location was by Viewcrest or the Yacht club.

9/19/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, 65 degrees, winds W at 30-40 mph.  Water temp 66 degrees.  Caught 1 - 6 lb Largemouth bass and a few pan fish.  Due to the wind, most of the lake was un-fishable.  The fish were caught in 6-7 ft of water. 

9/16/12 Lauderdale lakes, sunny 70 degrees, light winds out of the east at 5 mph. Caught 10 largemouth bass, most were small and a handfull of pan fish.  Caught some of the fish on slip bobbers and a split shot rigged worm.  Most of the action came in Green lake near the Girl Scout Camp.  The key was scattered weeds in 15 ft of water.  The thicker weeds didn't have much action.

9/15/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, 70 degrees, light winds out of the north at 5 mph.  Caught 8 largemouth bass and 20 bluegills that we kept.  Tried fishing main lake points again, but the fish have moved off of them, they were in 12 ft of water in scattered weeds.  The best approach remains split shot rigged nightcrawlers.

9/13/12 Delavan Lake, cloudy, N wind at 15 mph, air temp 65, water temp 70 degrees.  Caught 15 largemouth, 3 were legal and 30 bluegills.  Tried fishing the main lake points without much success, switched to 12 ft of water by Viewcrest and caught most of our fish.  The 30 degree cold front had little effect on the fishing.  All fish were caught on a split shot rigged nightcrawlers.

9/9/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, N winds at 15-20 mph, air temp 65, water temp 74 degrees.  Caught 12 largemouth bass, 2 walleyes and 1 smallmouth bass.  The strong winds made fishing tough.  The fish were still positioned on main lake weed points in 15-18 ft of water.  The presentation was lindy rigs and split shot rigged nightcrawlers. 

9/8/12 Lake Geneva, sunny, winds N at 15 mph, air temp 65, water temp 73 degrees. Caught 5 smallmouth, all were legal, 1 largemouth bass and a bunch of rock bass and bluegills.  Started off early fishing lindy rigs in 20-25 ft of water.  Move shallower and caught a lot more pan fish and rock bass.  The wind made fishing my normal spots difficult.  Fished mostly by Ulines creek.

9/4/12 Lake Geneva, sunny, calm, 90 degrees, water temp 75 degrees.  Caught 1 northern pike, one 3 1/2 lb largemouth and 23 smallmouth bass, about 8 were legal.  All fish were caught on lindy rigs.  The best depth was 22-25 ft of water.  I was fishing near the Military Academy.  The boat traffic was almost non-existent.

8/26/12 Lake Geneva, cloudy, 74 degrees, S wind at 10 mph, water temp 73 degrees.  Caught 8 smallmouth, 2 were legal, 3 largemouth, 2 were legal.  Fished the main lake points by the Military Academy.  Most of the success came from lindy rigging nightcrawlers.

8/25/12 Lake Geneva, sunny, 85 degrees, SW wind at 10 mph.  Water temp 75 degrees.  Caught 3 largemouth, 1 was 21 inches and 1 was 19 inches.  8 smallmouth and a bunch of rock bass and bluegills.  The best depth was 21-25 ft of water.  We lindy rigged 1/8 oz sinkers with a 3 ft leader.  The best location was by the Military Academy.

8/23/12 p.m. Delavan Lake, sunny, 90 degrees, SW wind at 20 mph.  Water temp 75 degrees.  Caught 1 largemouth bass and one 25 lb carp and plenty of panfish.  The fishing was very tough.  It was one of the worst trips I've had in the last 14 years.  

8/23/12 a.m. Lake Geneva, sunny, 75 degrees, winds SW at 15 mph. Water temp 74 degrees.  Caught 10 smallmouth, 5 were legal and one 18" largemouth.  The fish were just off the main lake points in 21-25 ft of water.  The best location was by the Military Academy. 

8/20/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, 70 degrees, no wind, water temp 75 degrees.  Caught 12 largemouth, one 19" smallmouth and a bunch of pan fish.  Had to move around a lot to catch the bass.  They were positioned on the main lake points.  Most of the fish were caught on lindy rigged nightcrawlers or Thill big fish slip bobbers with medium suckers.

8/19/12 Delavan Lake, 70 degrees and sunny, water temp 74 degrees, light winds out of the north.  Caught 14 largemouth bass and one northern pike.  The fish were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers or a slip bobber fished with a medium sucker.  The best depth was 10-12 ft of water.  The boat traffic was intense so every spot had people on it.

8/18/12 Lake Geneva, 70 degrees and sunny, water temp 73 degrees, winds light out of the SW.  Caught 10 smallmouth and a bunch of rock bass.  The fish were caught on a rock point in 20 ft of water.  The best presentation was lindy rigging nightcrawlers.  Once you found the active school, it was pretty much one after the other.

8/14/12 p.m. Delavan Lake, 75 degrees and sunny, water temp 75 degrees, winds SW at 10 mph.  Caught 1 northern pike, 6 largemouth bass, one 19" walleye and many bluegills.  The fish were on the weed line in 15-17 ft of water.  All the fish were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.

8/14/12 a.m. Lake Geneva, 70 degrees and sunny, water temp 75 degrees, winds SW at 10-15 mph.  Caught 15 smallmouth bass, 2 largemouth and a bunch of rock bass.  Tried a lot of spots for Carolina rigging, the fish were hitting short and we didn't catch many. We tried drop shotting and lindy rigging night crawlers in 25 ft of water and then we ended up with a whole bunch.

8/11/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, 72 degrees, water temp 76 degrees. N wind at 15 mph.  Caught 22 largemouth, the biggest was 21 inches and a bunch of bluegills.  Most of the fish were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers, however we also had success with slip bobbered medium suckers in 6-9 ft of water.

8/9/12 Delavan lake, cloudy and 70 degrees, water temp 74 degrees.  E wind at 13 mph.  Caught 14 largemouth and 30 bluegills.  The fish were off the weedline in 16-20 ft of water.  The best presentation was a nightcrawler fished on a split shot rig.

8/7/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, 70 degrees, W wind at 10 mph.  Water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 10 largemouth bass and 20-30 bluegills.  The fish were shallow today in 5-6 ft of water.  Most of the fish were caught on a split shot rigged nightcrawler.  The best location was by Del Mar.

8/6/12 Delavan Lake, sunny, 79 degrees, water temp 78 degrees.  West wind at 15 mph.  Caught 5 largemouth bass, 1 northern pike and a bunch of bluegills.  The fish were off the weedline in 12-14 ft of water.  The best location was by Belvidere Park.

8/4/12 Delavan Lake, 90 degrees, sunny, no wind, water temp 80 degrees.  Caught 21 largemouth bass, 9 were legal, and one walleye.  Jumped around all day from main lake point to main lake point catching a couple fish in each location.  Again, split shot rigged nightcrawlers brought the most success.  A few fish did come off of medium suckers fished on a Thill big fish slip bobber.

8/3/12 Delavan Lake, 90 degrees, sunny, winds SW at 10 mph, water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 9 largemouth and 50-60 bluegills.  The fish were positioned outside the weed edge in 18-20 ft of water.  Most of the success came west of Del Mar using a split shot rigged nightcrawler.

7/31/12 Delavan Lake, 85 degrees, sunny, light winds out of the SW, water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 8 largemouth and 1 walleye.  Fish were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  Moved all over the lake, most of the action was coming on weed points, west of the yacht club and west of willow point.

7/30/12 Delavan Lake, 80 degrees, sunny, lights winds out of the SE, water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 9 largemouth and a bunch of bluegills.  The fish were on the weedline in 15-18 ft of water.  Fished for them on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  Best location was just west of the Yacht Club.

7/28/12 Delavan Lake, 75 degrees and sunny,  winds E at 5 mph, water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 13 largemouth, 2 walleyes and a bunch of bluegills.  We fished both shallow and deep today with equal success.  The larger fish came on slip bobber rigged suckers in about 8 ft of water.  The rest of the fish came off of split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  We fished all over the lake, weed points with a hard bottom were the best locations.

7/26/12 - Delavan Lake, 70 degrees, winds 15 mph out of the West.  Water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 10 largemouth, 2 walleyes and a plethora of big bluegills.  Most of the fish were caught in 15-20 ft of water.  A split shot rigged nightcrawler produced most of the action.  Fishing near the Oriental boathouse was the most productive.

7/25/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 80 degrees, SE winds at 10 mph.  Water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 3 smallmouth and 2 largemouth bass as well as many bluegills and perch.  When we first started in the a.m., it was cloudy with a slight chance of rain and the fish bit very well, when the skies cleared the fishing slowed.  All the fish were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  The best location was the Military Academy.

7/22/12 - p.m. Delavan Lake, partly cloudy, 82 degrees, SW winds at 10 mph.  Water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 6 largemouth and kept 18 bluegills.  The fishing was a bit slower than the a.m. and the boat traffic was intense.  All the fish were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  Fished mostly main lake points.

7/22/12 - a.m. Delavan Lake, sunny, 75 degrees, SW winds at 10 mph.  Water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 9 largemouth and a whole bunch of very large bluegills.  The bluegills were off the weedline in 16-18 ft of water.  The largemouth bass were on the weedline.  Moved around a lot, fishing was a bit slow, however, in the last hour, I caught a 7 lb bass which is the largest of the year.

7/21/12 - Lake Geveva, Sunny, 80 degrees SW winds at 10 mph.  Water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 4 Lake trout, all around 4 lbs., 3 smallmouth bass and 2 largemouth bass and a bunch of rock bass.  The lake trout were in 115 ft of water, 90 ft down.  Every spoon we put down caught a fish.  The bass and panfish were caught by the Military Academy on a split shot rigged nightcrawler.

7/20/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 90 degrees, Winds SW at 12 mph.  Water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 3 Lake Trout, each was 3-4 lbs.  Best depth was 90 ft down in 110 ft of water.  The best location was near Fontana.  Nickel and blue spoons caught all of the fish.

7/15/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 85 degrees, SW winds at 10 mph.  Water temp 79 degrees.  Caught 1 largemouth, 1 smallmouth and a bunch of rock bass and bluegills.  This trip was to get someone acclimated to fishing for the first time.  We caught between 50 and 75 fish total.  The main lake points produced the most fish.

7/14/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, SW winds at 10 mph, air temp 80 degrees, water temp 78 degrees.  Caught 6 largemouth, 4 were legal, 4 smallmouth, 2 were legal and a bunch of panfish.  Fished the main lake points with a split shot rigged nightcrawler.  The boat traffic was chaotic and the fish seemed to stop biting around 10 a.m.

7/13/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, SW wind at 5 mph, 75 degrees, water temp 78 degrees.  Caught 1 lake trout, 9 largemouth, and 3 smallmouth.  Fished the early a.m. for lake trout and once the sun came up, fished for bass on the main lake points.  Most of the success came out of 12 ft of water.  A nightcrawler on a split shot produced the most fish.

7/11/12 - Lake Geneva, no wind, sunny, 60 degrees, Water temp 79 degrees.  Fished for Lake Trout, caught 2 approximately 20 and 24 inches.  Fished 85 ft down in 112 ft of water.  Nickel/chrome spoons caught all the fish.  Fished in front of Conference Point and Cedar Point.

7/8/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 75 degrees, E wind at 10 mph.  Water temp 80 degrees.  Went Lake Trout fishing at dawn.  Had 6 bites but was only able to land one.  It was 20 inches.  The best depth was 112 ft of water about 60 ft down.  Nickel/Blue or Nickel/Green spoons were the best approach.

7/7/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 85 degrees, E wind at 10 mph.  Water temp 81 degrees.  Caught 5 walleyes, 1 northern pike and 9 largemouth bass.  Fished the weedlines in 20 ft of water.  Almost all of the fish were caught on lindy rigged nightcrawlers off the weedline.  The best location was just west of the Yacht Club.

7/7/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 93 degrees, SW wind at 10 mph.  Water temp 80 degrees.  Caught 5 largemouth and 4 smallmouth.  Drifted nightcrawlers in 12-17 ft of water.  Fished by the Military Academy, Belvidere Park and Abbey Springs.  Caught a lot of fish but most were small.

7/4/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 95 degrees, SW winds at 10 mph.  Water temp 78 degrees.  Caught 9 smallmouth, 5 largemouth, and one 33 inch northern pike.  Fished by the Military Academy in 15 ft of water using lindy rigged nightcrawlers.  The wind was perfect for drifting.  The best bite was right at sunrise.

7/1/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 75 degrees, no wind, water temp 75 degrees.  Caught 3 lake trout, all 3 were legal.  Had 3 others on that lost the hook.  Fished between Conference Point and Cedar Point.  The best depth was 70 ft down in 118 ft of water.

6/30/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 80 degrees, SW wind at 5 mph, water temp 75 degrees.  Caught 9 largemouth, 5 were legal, 1 smallmouth bass and 1 northern pike. The fish were on main lake point and caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  The pike was caught on lindy rigged small bluegills in 19 ft of water.

6/28/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 98 degrees, winds SW at 10 mph.  Water temp 77 degrees.  Caught 12 largemouth, 3 smallmouth and 1 walleye.  All the bass were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers in 10-12 ft of water.  The best location was by Browns Channel.

6/26/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 90 degrees, winds S at 5 mph.  Water temp 78 degrees.  Caught 8 largemouth, 3 were legal, 3 walleyes and 1 northern pike.  The bass were caught on main lake points on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  The northern was caught on a lindy rigged sucker.

6/24/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 75 degrees, light winds out of the west, water temp 74 degrees.  Caught about 150 bluegills, 4-5 largemouth bass and 1 walleye.  The bluegills were caught on red worms fished with a small split shot. The walleye was caught on a lindy rigged leach.

6/23/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 75 degrees, SW wind at 5 mph.  Water temp 74 degrees.  Caught 16 largemouth bass, 8 were legal, 4 walleyes and 2 northern, one was 33 inches.  The legal northern was caught on a nightcrawler, the walleyes were caught on lindy rigged jumbo leaches.  The fish were positioned on the outside of the weedline.

6/21/12 - Delavan Lake, Sunny, 85 degrees, NW wind at 10 mph.  Water temp 74 degrees.  Caught 16 largemouth, 1 walleye, 1 smallmouth and 1 northern.  The best location was in 18 ft of water off the weed points.  Caught most of the fish on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.

6/20/12 - Lake Geneva, Sunny, 93 degrees, SW wind at 25 mph.  Water temp 74 degrees.  Caught 9 largemouth, 5 were legal.  Due to the strong winds, the only location fished was Trinkes.  The best depth was 12 ft of water.

6/18/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny, 90 degrees, S wind at 25 mph.  Water temp 70 degrees.  Caught 7 smallmouth bass, 1 largemouth bass and many rock bass.  Due to the strong south wind, the only place you could fish was by Abbey Springs and the Military Academy.  The best depth was 10 ft of water.

6/16/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, SW winds at 10 mph, water temp 71 degrees.  Caught 10 largemouth- 3 were legal, 1 walleye, 1 smallmouth and 2 northern pike.  The northern pike and smallmouth bass were caught on lindy rigged suckers in 15-20 ft of water.  The largemouth bass were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers in 15 ft of water by Del Mar subdivision.

6/15/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny and 80 degrees, water temp 69 degrees, SW winds at 15 mph.  Caught 11 largemouth, 1 smallmouth and a bunch of panfish. The fish were caught in 12 ft of water on split shot rigged nightcrawlers by Trinkes.  The only depth producing was 12 ft of water.

6/14/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny and 65 degrees, water temp 70 degrees, Winds S at 10-15 mph.  Caught 1 nothern,1 legal walleye, 2 smallmouth and 10 largemouth bass.  The northern pike was caught on a lindy rigged sucker.  The bass were caught on the deep weed line in 16-20 ft of water.  The key was to keep the boat away from the weed edge.  The fish were a bit spooky this day.

6/13/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, air temp 66 degrees, water temp 70 degrees. Winds E at 5 mph.  Caught 4 smallmouth, 1 Northern, 1 legal Walleye and 13 largemouth bass.   The fish were in the shallows in 2-3 ft of water.  The fish we caught appeared to just complete spawning.  The key was a long cast to the sandy spots.  The best location was just east of the Oriental boathouse.

6/10/12- Delavan Lake, sunny, air temp 85 degrees, water temp 69 degrees, winds SW at 15 mph.  Caught 10 largemouth, 3 were legal, 3 smallmouth, 1 was legal and 4 walleyes.  Today we had to search for the fish.  They were anywhere from 10-17 ft of water. Most of the success on the walleyes came on a chartreuse painted hook.  The bass are still shallow, however the smallmouth and walleye are on the weedline in 15-20 ft of water.

6/9/12 - Delavan lake, sunny, 88 degrees, water temp 69 degrees.  SW winds at 20 mph.  Caught 4 walleyes, 10 largemouth and 1 smallmouth bass.  We fished nightcrawlers on a split shot rig.  Again, the walleyes all bit on painted chartreuse hooks.  The best location was by Browns channel and by Willow point.

6/8/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 85 degrees, winds SW at 15 mph.  Water temp 66 degrees.  Caught 15 largemouth bass.  The bass were positioned on weed points.  We caught the fish on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.

6/5/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 77 degrees, SE winds at 10 mph.  Water temp 66 degrees.  Caught 10 largemouth bass and 4 walleyes.  The walleyes were caught on the deep weedline in 20 ft of water.  The key was a painted chartreuse hook.  The bass were caught on the weedline in 12-14 ft of water.

6/4/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny, 77 degrees, water temp 65 degrees.  Winds SE at 10 mph.  Caught 10 largemouth, 1 northern pike and 1 smallmouth bass.  We were fishing 8-9 ft of water by Browns Channel.  A split shot rig with a nightcrawler was the best approach.

6/3/12 - Delavan Lake, 70 degrees, water temp 62 degrees, W winds at 5 mph.  Caught 30 bluegills, 1 smallmouth and 6 largemouth bass.  We caught all of the fish by Browns Channel on nightcrawlers and leaf worms.  The best depth was 12 ft of water.  Any deeper and the fish didn't bite and any shallower and it was too weedy.

6/2/12 - Lake Geneva, 70 degrees and sunny, water temp 61 degrees.  Caught 8 smallmouth bass and about 100 rock bass.  Most of the success was in 12 ft of water.  We used split shot rigged nightcrawlers near Belvidere Park.

5/30/12 - Delavan Lake, 62 degrees water, 70 degrees air.  Wind NW at 10 mph.  Caught 10 largemouth bass and 10 bluegill and 15 perch.  Most of the fish were caught in 10-12 ft of water.  The best bait was nightcrawlers fished on a split shot rig.  The best location was near the yacht club.

5/27/12 - Delavan Lake, sunny and 80 degrees, light winds, Water temp 64 degrees.  Caught 11 largemouth, 4 were legal,and  3 smallmouth.  Spent a lot of time trying to locate bluegills.  Most of the gills were in 3-4 ft of water and ended up catching about 14 of them.  Nightcrawlers and leaf worms seemed to catch the most.  Tried to fish crappies but only caught 2.  The crappies are on the weedline in 12-15 ft of water.  I found that out after I got off the lake, I was fishing in 6-8 ft of water.

5/26/12 - Lake Geneva, Thunderstorms and rain, temperature about 70 degrees, Winds out of the East at 15 mph.  Water temp 63 degrees.  Caught 6 largemouth, 2 were legal and about 20 bluegills.  We were fishing a depth of 3-4 ft of water.  All fish were caught in about 2 hours as the rain and thunderstorms chased us off the lake.

5/25/12 - Lake Geneva, sunny and 75 degrees, winds W at 10 mph.  Water temp 61 degrees.  Caught 5 smallmouth, none were legal and about 60 rock bass.  We were using white hair jigs and split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  Fished by the Military Academy, Belvidere Park and Colemans Point.

5/23/12 - Delavan Lake, 75 degrees, winds SW at 10 mph.  Water temp 64 degrees.  Caught 13 largemouth, 3 smallmouth, 1 walleye and 15 crappies.  The crappies were caught on small fat head minnows fished beneath a slip bobber in 6-8 ft of water.  The best location was by Willow Point.  The game fish were caught on nightcrawlers on the weed line in 12-15 ft of water.  We caught 2 that were over 20 inches.

5/22/12 - Lake Geneva, 72 degrees, wind NE at 10 mph.  Water temp 64 degrees.  Caught 4 legal smallmouth and 40 rock bass.  Fished white hair jigs and split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  The best location was by Belvidere Park and by Colemans Point.  Worked a depth of 6-10 ft of water.

5/20/12 - Delavan Lake, 83 degrees and sunny, SW wind at 10-20 mph.  Water temp 64 degrees.  Caught 5 walleyes, 6 smallmouth bass and 12 largemouth bass plus a few crappies. We caught the fish on the weedline in 13 ft of water.  The best approach was a split shot rigged nightcrawler.  The crappies were caught on small plastics.

5/19/12 - Delavan Lake, 80 degrees and sunny, SW wind at 15 mph.  Water temp 63 degrees.  Caught 1 northern pike, 5 largemouth bass and a few bluegills.  For whatever reason, fishing was very tough today.  The bass were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.

5/18/12- Lake Geneva, 65 degrees and sunny, SW wind at 15 mph.  Water temp 57 degrees.  Caught 1 smallmouth, 6 largemouth and a bunch of rock bass.  The smallmouth bass was caught on a small white hair jig.  The largemouth and rock bass were caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.

5/13/12 - Happy Mothers Day!

5/12/12 - Lake Geneva, water temp 56 degrees, air temp 60 degrees, N wind at 10 mph.  Caught 10 largemouth bass, 20 pan fish and a bunch of rock bass.  Most of the fish were in 4-5 ft of water.  We were fishing mostly in Abbey Harbor in 3-4 ft of water.  The rock bass were in the main lake.  They were caught on fat head minnows and white hair jigs.  The best location was Belvidere Park.

5/11/12 - Delavan Lake, water temp 60 degrees, air temp 65 degrees, strong SE wind at 20 mph.  Caught 15 largemouth bass, 2 were legal, 1 smallmouth bass and 6 northern pike.  The bass were caught in 3-4 ft of water.  The northern pike were caught in 6-7 ft of water fished on Thill slip bobbers with a medium sucker.  The best location was by Browns channel.

5/9/12 - Whitewater Lake, water temp 63 degrees, air temp 70 degrees, light N winds at 5 mph.  Caught 10 largemouth bass.  All fish were caught on Senkos, green pumpkin was the best color.  We were fishing 2-3 ft of water around the bogs.

5/6/12 - Delavan Lake, water temp 53 degrees, cloudy with E winds at 15 mph.  Air temp 60 degrees, chased off near the end of the trip due to T-Storms.  Caught 2 northern pike and a handful of bluegills.  Was on a quest for crappies, we moved around 8 or 9 times without success.  We were fishing anywhere from 6 to 15 ft of water.  The northern pike were caught anchor fishing and they weren't overly cooperative either, we did have one other fish on that got off.

5/5/12 - Lake Geneva, water temp 51 degrees, cloudy with E winds at 15 mph.  Air temp 55 degrees.  Caught 10 Largemouth, 5 were legal, the biggest was 4 lbs and a bunch of bluegills, a couple rock bass and a couple perch.  Most of the success came in Abbey Harbor.  The perch and rock bass were caught off of Black Point.  The best bait was split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  The perch bit on fat head minnows.

4/29/12 - Rock River, 53 degrees, partly cloudy, winds E at 15 mph.  Caught 10 whitebass and 2 walleye.  The fish were caught on a jig and minnow.  The best depth was 5-7 ft of water. We only fished a few hours.  The wind made boat control difficult.  The best colored jig was orange.

4/24/12 - Delavan Lake, 60 degrees, little to no wind, water temp 53 degrees.  Caught 25 crappies and about 40 bluegills, kept about 30 fish total.  The crappies were caught in Viewcrest Bay, they were in 7-8 ft of water.  They were caught on small plastics fishing them about 3 ft beneath the bobber.  A nice slow retrieve was the best.  The bluegills were in 3 ft of water, they were caught on an ice jig with a small red worm.  The best location was in Lake Lawn Lodge.

4/22/12 - Delavan Lake, 40 degrees, winds out of the E at 20 mph.  Water temp 49 degrees.  Caught 100 bluegills, kept 40.  The best presentation was a bobber fished with a wax worm.  Most of the fish were caught in 2-3 ft of water.  The fish were in the boat channels.

4/21/12 - Lake Koshkonong, 35 degrees, winds E, water temp 46 degrees.  Caught 1 walleye and 10 white bass.  Fished by Newville.  Most of the white bass were caught trolling in 5 ft of water.  Chrome/blue were the best colors for the #5 shad rap crankbaits.

4/14/12 - Delavan Lake, 65 degrees, winds were light out of the SW.  Water temp 51 degrees.  Caught 30-40 crappies, kept only 5, also caught about 40 small bluegills and kept 8.  There was some really good action, however the size was a problem.  The best success was coming in 3-4 ft of water.  I fished in Viewcrest Bay and the inlet channel.  Crappies were caught on small purple plastic and the bluegills were caught on leaf worms.

4/13/12 - Lake Geneva, 60 degrees, winds SW at 20 mph.  Water temp 48 degrees.  Caught a whole bunch of perch, 10 were kept over 10 inches.  The fish were in 3-4 ft of water in Fontana.  It seemed the bigger the minnow, the bigger the perch.  I used large fat head minnows for the best success.

4/8/12 - Delavan Lake, 50 degrees, Winds N at 20 mph.  Water temp 48 degrees.  Caught about 30 bluegills.  The fish were caught in 3-4 ft of water.  The best success was on wax worms fished on a small chartreuse lindy jig.  We only fished about 2 hours dueto the holiday.

4/7/12 - Pleasant Lake, 60 degrees, winds SW at 10 mph.  Unknown water temp.  Caught about 30 bluegills, kept 10.  The fish were in 6-8 ft of water.  Red worms on a small ice jig seemed to be the best.  The fish were caught by the Girls Scout camp.  Tried in a couple of shallow bays without success.

4/1/12 - Delavan lake, 50 degrees, winds out of the East at 10 mph.  Water temp 45 degrees.  Caught a boat load of bluegills in the channels.  Kept about 20, the best presentation was the Thill slip bobber fished with a Genz bug.  It didn't matter whether you used wax worms or red worms, both were producing well.  It was too cold to fish the main lake, speaking with others who had it was slower on the main lake than in the channels.

3/31/12 - Lake Geneva, 45 degrees, cloudy, winds NE at 15 mph.  Water temp 43 degrees.  Caught a few small bluegills, nothing major happening.  Fished in Abbey Harbor in 3-4 ft of water.  Fished waxworms on ice fishing jigs.  The weather was cold and windy.

3/25/12 - Delavan Lake, 65 degrees, sunny, light winds out of the north, water temp 58 degrees.  Caught about 20 bluegills, only kept one.  Caught a few crappies today, one nice one about 14 inches.  Fishing was rather slow today, most of the bluegills were caught by the outlet dam in 2 ft of water.  The crappies were caught in front of Lake Lawn golf course in 5-8 ft of water.  We also tried in Lake Lawn harbor without success and in the inlet channel.3

3/24/12 - Delavan Lake,60 degrees, cloudy and rainy, light winds out of the North, Water temp 58 degrees.  Caught 100 bluegills, kept 25.  Fished by the outlet dam and by Browns Channel.  Best success came in 2 ft of water on wax worms fished on ice fishing jigs and Thill bobbers.  There were some crappies being caught by Lake Lawn Golf Course in 5-8 ft of water, but we didn't try for them because the bluegill action was too good.
